Carver Tops Hardaway 46-14

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Carver Tigers got quite a scare from Hardaway, but used four unanswered second half touchdowns to beat the Hawks 46-14 on Friday night at McClung Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers (2-1) opened a 12-0 lead in the first quarter on a 53-yard punt return by Darius Williams and a one-yard keeper by Torrance McGee.

But on the final play of the first quarter in a fourth-and-five situation, Joseph Gibson connected with Corey Lyles on a 40-yard touchdown. On the first play from scrimmage after the kickoff, the Hawks (0-3) recovered a fumbled snap that set up an 11-yard TD run by James Triplett that gave Hardaway a 14-12 lead.

Carver retook the lead for good with :01 remaining in the first half when Brandon Thomas scored on an 18-yard run.

In other Thursday night action, Central lost to Dothan 41-38 in overtime.
