GILBERT, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

A Gilbert woman has pleaded guilty to abusing her adopted 10-year-old son.

Jennifer Louise Barnes, 41, made her plea to two counts of child abuse in Maricopa County court Tuesday morning. As part of a plea deal, counts three through 13 will be dismissed.

According to court documents, the child was abused with a lighter, toothbrush and curling iron. The boy told investigators that Barnes allegedly forced dog feces into his mouth and then taped it shut using duct tape.

The boy also claims Barnes burned his genitals with a lighter.

The incidents happened sometime between May 1, 2010 and Aug. 22, 2011.

Barnes was interviewed Sept. 8 and said she was the victim's sole caregiver during the time period, yet had no knowledge of the injuries or scars.
