It's Status Quo for the Braves in the NL Wild Card Race

ATLANTA (AP) - Alex Gonzalez hit a three-run homer and Martin Prado bunted in a run during a four-run rally in seventh inning, and the revived Atlanta Braves beat the Florida Marlins 4-1 Wednesday to maintain their lead in the NL wild-card race.

Atlanta has won two straight following a season-high four-game losing streak.

Cristhian Martinez pitched a scoreless sixth and Eric O'Flaherty (2-4) a scoreless seventh as the two combined to face the minimum for Atlanta.

Five Braves combined on a four-hitter, and the Marlins didn't get a hit after the third or a runner after the fifth.

But they didn't gain any ground on the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals handed Pittsburgh a 3-2 loss, clinching the Pirates 19th consecutive losing season, a record for a major league franchise in North America.

Yadier Molina sealed the win with a tiebreaking, two-run double. Columbus native Edwin Jackson (5-2) picked up the win for the Cards, who have won seven of eight, and trail the Braves by 4½ games in the NL wild-card race.
