Homemade bombs thrown in Columbus neighborhood

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus Police are investigating three reports of homemade bombs being thrown into yards over the weekend.

It happened late Saturday night in the Beaver Run Road area. The residents reported hearing a loud noise, similar to a gunshot, outside their homes around 11:00 p.m.

Upon investigation, police found plastic soda bottles with an unknown liquid inside and aluminum foil covering the lids. 

Witnesses told police they never saw a fire or any significant damage, just the loud noise followed by smoke coming from the area where the bottleS landed.
