The biggest problem with tablets is that they can produce side effects which can potentially harm the patient including liver problems, loss of taste, blood count problems and allergic reactions which can be quite dangerous. Although these problems do not always occur, the risk is always there that they can occur. The creams and solutions usually work somewhere between 10 and 30% and so most people give up on the treatment and just let the problem get worse.
Surgery can get rid of the toenail fungus, but the most definitive surgery involves taking the nail off and completely killing the root and most people want to try and keep their toenail and the laser treatment can actually kill the fungus and in many cases heal the nail without side effects, without drugs and without surgery with an overall 75-80% success rate. The closest to that is the tablets which over the years have really averaged closer to 50% success rate.
