Auburn's Hargis Hall damaged in evening blaze

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – A fire has been contained at Auburn University's Hargis Hall. The fire happened in the steeple of the century old building shortly before 6:00 p.m. CDT Thursday.

Firefighters were on the scene for several hours Thursday and no injuries have been repor


We are told there were some fire damage, but mostly just smoke and water damage.

The building is expected to open within a few days.

The fire department tells News Leader 9 they are just beginning their investigation.

Hargis Hall, which was built in 1888, normally houses 15 administrators for the University's Graduate School.
