ATLANTA (AP) - As the second week of a new toll system begins on Interstate 85 in metro Atlanta, transportation officials say they expect the next big test to be Tuesday's rush hour.

WSB Radio reports that since Monday is a holiday, Tuesday will be the first test this week of whether new lower rates will work to keep traffic moving.

Gov. Nathan Deal last week lowered the tolls after traffic jammed during rush hour. Motorists complained that few cars were traveling in the toll lanes, resulting in slower traffic in the free lanes.

Deal said if the project fails, it could endanger plans for toll lanes - also known as HOT lanes - on other highways in metro Atlanta.
