Opelika teen dies from gunshot wounds

Opelika, AL (WTVM) - Police are looking for the person responsible for the shooting death of an Opelika teen.

The Opelika Police Department responded to the 500 block of W.E. Morton Avenue in reference to a complaint of a gun shot victim Tuesday afternoon. 

Upon arrival officers discovered Jamal Marcel Butler, 18,  behind an apartment complex suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.  

Butler was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Opelika Police Department is encouraging anyone with information concerning this investigation to contact the police department at 334-705-5200.
