Second teen arrested in connection with friend's death

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

News Leader 9 has learned that a second person has been arrested in connection with an accidental shooting.

Parker Williams, 17, has been charged with reckless conduct with his bond set at $1,000.  Williams is a student at Hardaway High School in Columbus.

Shaw High School senior Joseph Conner Weeks was killed over the weekend after police he was accidentally shot at a home located near the intersection of 17th Street and Wells Drive Saturday night.

Weeks died from a single gunshot wound to his upper right torso.        

Police say Williams was outside the home when the shooting happened.  

Tuesday Morgan Springer, 17, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct.

Police say Springer was holding the gun when it discharged outside the home. A bullet from that gun went through the home, killing Weeks inside the bathroom.

Springer was booked in Muscogee County jail Tuesday afternoon and bonded out shortly afterwards on $6,000.

Funeral services for Weeks will be held Thursday, October 20 at Cascade Hills Church at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation is scheduled Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home located at 3874 Gentian Boulevard in Columbus.
