PHENIX CITY, AL (WXTX) – The Phenix City Police Department responded to a shooting incident early Saturday morning in the 900 block of 4th Street.

Upon arrival, police discovered Anthony Ford, 34, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  He was taken to Columbus Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Police say the shooting happened after Ford and Cedric Williams, 27, got into an argument.

Neighbors told FOX 54 that Ford had struck Williams in the head with handle of his handgun.  In retaliation, Williams went after Ford and started fighting.

Williams turned himself in to police and a handgun has been recovered.

He has been charged with murder and is currently being held at the Russell County Jail with no bond.

FOX 54 will continue following this story.
