4 face charges after gunfire outside high school in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say four young people are facing charges in connection with a gunshot fired outside Monroe High School as students were leaving for the afternoon.

Police say no one was injured.

Authorities tell the Albany Herald that the four suspects drove up to the school in the south Georgia town in a white Ford Crown Victoria about 4 p.m. Friday.

Police said an argument ensued, and a single shot from a .44-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun was fired from inside the vehicle toward a group of students standing in front of the school.

Dougherty County Schools Assistant Police Chief Julius Phillips said the four suspects, who range in age from 19 to 21, were charged with aggravated assault and drug and firearm charges.
