COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Candy, costumes, and cold temperatures mean Halloween.  But, Trick or Treating can turn dangerous if safety precautions are not taken.

Here are some tips for Trick or Treating safety:

  1. Make sure your ghost or goblin's outfit fits so they do not trip.
  2. Stay away from masks because they can obstruct their view.
  3. Add reflective tape or glow sticks to the outfit.  Not only will you be able to see them, but cars will too.
  4. Walk in a big group with adults to chaperone.

 After Trick or Treating:

  1. Check each piece of candy.  If it is open, throw it away.

WTVM hopes you have a safe, but spooky, Halloween.
