Columbus man on trial for rape, Banks dropping debit card fees

Here's what News Leader Nine is following!

Columbus Man on Trial for Rape

Opening statements are underway in the rape and molestation trial of Otis Pugh. He's accused of repeatedly raping his former girlfriend's daughter. The prosecution told the jury the 12 year old victim lived a nightmare for months when Pugh would force himself on her every time her mother left the two of them alone in their Torch Hill Road apartment to go to work. The young girl's nightmare ended last year when her mother got out of the shower and found Pugh raping her daughter in her own bed. He's facing rape, child molestation and sexual battery charges.

Three Siblings Arrested for Murder

Three siblings are in custody in Americus, the youngest just 14, charged with murdering a man. The unidentified Hispanic man was found dead Friday night on Lamar Road in Sumter County. Investigators got a tip about a car seen in that area and found it parked at a mobile home park about a mile away from the scene.  Agents served a warrant on a home and took 20-year-old Kenyota Peterson, 16-year old Clarence Coleman and 14-year old Adam Peterson into custody. Now the focus falls on positively identifying the victim. Investigators don't think the victim was from Sumter County.

Banks Drop Debit Card Fee

Another bank says it will now eliminate its monthly fee for using debit cards. Regions Bank says it will refund fees already charged to its customers. The $4 per month fee kicked in at the beginning of October. Just yesterday, Suntrust Bank made a similar announcement. It followed larger banks like Chase and Wells Fargo, which ended their debit card fees last week.
