Here's what we're working on for News Leader Nine at Noon:

Columbus man stabbed with sword

A Columbus man is being treated at the medical center after being stabbed in the chest with a sword. Police say 25-year-old Emanuel Walker was stabbed last night around ten at Eagle Trace apartments. Walker also received cuts to his hand while trying to defend himself. According to police, Walker and the suspect were in the kitchen arguing over a shirt.  Walker's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Warrants have been issued for the suspect, but his name is not being released at this time.

 Drug testing welfare recipients

Two Georgia lawmakers are planning to introduce legislation requiring people to pass a drug test to receive welfare. Representative Jason Spencer of Woodbine and State Senator John Albers of Roswell are sponsoring the legislation. Spencer says he wants to make sure hard-earned tax dollars are not being used to subsidize drug addiction. He said the measure would not apply to people on food stamps. Similar laws have run into legal problems in other states. A federal judge in Florida has temporarily halted a law requiring all welfare recipients to pass drug tests.

Cain back on track

GOP Presidential hopeful Herman Cain will spend today trying to steer his campaign back to business as usual as he tries to deal with sexual harassment allegations dating back to the 1990's. Cain said late yesterday quote "We're getting back on message and we're going to stay on message."

I hope you'll join us at noon!
