Fort Benning Armor School graduates 78

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - For the first time since the U.S. Armor School moved from Fort Knox in Kentucky to Fort Benning in Georgia, it graduated Army officers, international officers and Marines in the same class.

Lt. Col. Sean Barnes, commander of 2nd Squadron, 16th Regiment, said it was the first class with all three groups.

All graduates completed 19 weeks of training to prepare them to lead a platoon in armor and reconnaissance missions. They are trained in shooting a variety of weapons, tank and Humvee operations and using other equipment.

Barnes says 16 of the 78 students were Marines, seven were international students and the rest were Army.
