Occupy Columbus takes on Wells Fargo

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Wells Fargo is responding to protesters that showed up to a Columbus branch on Saturday. Occupy Columbus activists staged a march and picketed the bank on 13th Street.

They said they were out to protest Wells Fargo's financial support of detention centers that house immigrants.

Southeast manager, Jay Lawrence, released a statement saying people have the right to protest.

He also said their focus right now is to give back to the community and improve financial gains in the community.

"What we hope to accomplish today is to build a movement in Columbus against cooperate greed because cooperations have been given rights to spend untold amounts of money to influence politics," says Theresa El-Amin with Occupy Columbus.

Wells Fargo says they wish to work with the community to gain an understanding and focus.
