Here's what we're working on for the news at noon:

Kenneth Jones capital murder trail

The capital murder trial of a Lee County, Alabama man accused of killing his girlfriend's child two years ago could soon be coming to an end. The prosecution is expected to rest later today in the case against Kenneth Jones. This morning, a sheriff's investigator testified he removed baby wipes, paper towels and carpet cleaner from the home. The jury was shown pictures of what looked to be a bloody paper towel in a trash can.  Witnesses say the child's mother was working at a gas station when the toddler died.

Harris County woman finds burglars in home

A Harris County woman who came home to find burglars has helped sheriff's officials nab the suspects, Shawn Scott and Beverly Johnson. The woman got home yesterday and found a white SUV backed up to her house in Ellerslie. She drove back to the entrance of her subdivision while calling 9-1-1. The subdivision only has one way in and out, so she was able to make sure they didn't leave before police arrived. Police found the SUV and stolen property and arrested Scott and Johnson when they searched the woods in the area.

Spread holiday cheer to deployed soldiers

You can help bring some holiday cheer to deployed soldiers. A few years ago Morgan Bowen started putting together Christmas stockings for troops. Since then, Operation Desert Support has really grown. Dozens of his fellow 4-H members will be joined by volunteers from the community to help fill stockings in two weeks at the Sumter County Extension Office.  Bowen hopes to exceed the 630 stockings that went out last year.  Each one contains things troops can't get overseas.

Tune in at noon for the latest news from News Leader Nine.
