One week after Swift Mill fire, questions still linger

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) – The fire is out and the smoke has cleared, but now questions surround what started the blaze at the old Swift Mill.

Firefighters will continue to monitor the building to assure hot spots don't spark up again.

Fox 54 learned that a company had applied for a permit to work on the sprinkler system in the Swift Mill in October, and it was approved by the fire department, but work had not begun.

The owner of the old Swift Mill, Pace Burt, had a fence put up around the building and the road directly in front of the building is still blocked off.

Fox 54 will continue following this story.
