Editorial: Feeding the Valley

EDITORIAL: WTVM is teaming up with Feeding the Valley Food Bank to collect food for the hungry in our community.

Starting Saturday, November 19 through November 23 viewers will be able to drop off non-perishable food at participating Winn Dixie locations, Country's BBQ in Columbus and at the WTVM studios.

Country's and McDonalds are our sponsors this year and we appreciate their support. All food collected will benefit the second Harvest Food Bank, a United Way partner.

The mission of feeding the valley is to gather food to feed the hungry. The values that Feeding the Valley strives to incorporate into its mission are compassion, good stewardship, dedication, urgency and inclusiveness.

The needs of feeding the valley are always canned meat, canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, peanut butter and jelly and soups.

Feeding the valley needs our help year-round so let's start a new habit during this holiday season.

Go to your pantry or grocery store and bring at least one grocery bag full of food items to Winn-Dixie, country's or WTVM before November 23 so more people than ever will not go hungry during the holidays.

General Manager Lee Brantley brings two editorials a week to WTVM. If you would like to respond to an editorial, write to:
