Columbus police investigating shooting on Adair Avenue

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are investigating a shooting that happened near 1033 Adair Avenue and injured one Columbus man.

Police say three men were standing between two apartment buildings talking when they say two other men came out of the darkness.  The victims told police at least one of these men was armed with a handgun.

Police say the victims say the two men said something to them then pointed a gun at them.

According to investigators, the victims say they began to run and the suspects started shooting.

One person was shot in the back near the shoulder.  He was transported to the Medical Center for treatment.  Police are not releasing the victim's name, but they did say he is in his 20s.

The victims ran to a nearby church on Wynnton Road where two off duty police officers were attending service, and they called police. 

Investigators are looking for two black males.  One is described as having dark skin, around 6 feet tall and wearing all black.  The other had light skin, around 6 feet tall and thin.
