Swift Demolition Starts...Cain Gets Secret Service Protection

Here's what we are working on for News Leader 9 Morning!

We have new details on this week's severe weather.  The National Weather Service determined the storm moved nearly 60 miles across four counties in Alabama and Georgia.  They say it was likely an EF-0, or EF-1 in some places.

Demolition crews will start tearing down the old Swift Mill this morning, nearly two weeks after a fire destroyed the building.  Investigators are still looking for two persons of interest in the case.

The death of local businessman Steve Toms has officially been ruled a homicide.  Muscogee County's deputy coroner says he was shot multiple times.  Toms was found dead Wednesday morning at the Gold and Silver Trading Center where he was the manager.  Police say they're following several leads, but no arrests have been made.
The U.S. Secret Service says Herman Cain is becoming the first Republican presidential contender to receive its protection.  The Georgia businessman requested the detail and Homeland Security agreed to it.  Cain has risen in the polls despite allegations of past sexual harassment.
