Alabama Economics Director surveys projects in Phenix City

By Toygar Ayla - email

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) –  Phenix City showed off all the projects they have going on around the river front to the director of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

ADECA officials are trying to see if all their economic improvements will qualify them for grant money.

They discussed the whitewater rafting project, the new Troy University campus, and the hotel that will be built downtown.  All these projects will hopefully show the potential growth in the area.

ADECA Director Jim Byard said, "That will bring needed foot traffics and what we'll do is look at the return on investment of any grant money that may come into the community and that will improve the return on investment having bodies and folks in town."

ADECA will make a decision if Phenix City will receive the grant in late spring or early summer of 2012.
