Holiday traffic: 15 deaths reported on GA roads, 6 in AL

(WTVM) -

Alabama state troopers say five crashes resulted in 6 deaths during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

One of the deaths occurred in Russell County.  Investigators say five of the six individuals killed this weekend were not wearing seat belts. In addition, alcohol was reported to be a factor in some of the accidents.

During the same period last year, Alabama troopers investigated 7 of the state's 12 deaths. 

Meanwhile, the Georgia State Patrol reports 15 people were killed in traffic accidents during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Last year, 13 deaths were reported in Georgia.
