WASHINGTON (AP) - A group of protesters from an Occupy Washington encampment plans to march from the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall to the Atlanta gravesite of the late civil rights leader.
Kevin Zeese, an organizer of the occupation at Washington's Freedom Plaza, says between 15 and 25 protesters will begin walking Thursday. Some previously walked from the Wall Street occupation in New York.
Thursday marks the anniversary of Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Ala., bus in 1955. That protest was followed by the yearlong Montgomery bus boycott during the civil rights movement.
King's children have said their father was planning a poor people's campaign and occupation before he was assassinated in 1968.
