Columbus Symphony violinist placed on leave during investigation

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Symphony Orchestra announced Wednesday that Mario Urbina has been placed on leave until the situation has been resolved.

Urbina is charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.  Auburn police say he taught the young victim music lessons at an undisclosed location in Auburn.

Police say the abuse happened during one of the lessons last year and was reported to investigators this October.

Auburn Police say Urbina has taught violin for many years to dozens of students.
