Police search apartments, woods for missing girl

CANTON, Ga. (AP) - Law officers are continuing their search for a missing girl in the Canton area after combing nearby apartment complexes and surrounding woods.

WSB Radio reports that probation officers were checking with sex offenders in the area. WSB-TV reports that searchers were also handing out fliers at businesses.

Authorities say they believe 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera was abducted.

Canton police Detective Candy Worthy said the child was last seen around 5 p.m. Friday at the River Ridge apartments in Canton, about 40 miles north of Atlanta.

CBS Atlanta reports a $5,000 reward is being offered by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department for information leading her safe return.

She's described as a Hispanic female, about 3 feet tall and 80 pounds. She was last seen wearing jeans, a pink shirt and black boots.
