COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Columbus Police Department and the FBI have arrested the man they say robbed the Wells Fargo Bank in Columbus Park Crossing.

Police captured Joseph C. Cecil, 50, Friday around 5:00 p.m. near Natha Avenue, off Moon and Weems Roads.

The robbery happened just after 9:00 a.m. Friday on Whittlesey Boulevard.

Witnesses say a white man walked into the bank wearing a ski mask, revealed a large-caliber semi-automatic weapon and demanded money.

Police say he ran away towards Moon Road, where a black Pontiac Grand Prix was waiting for him.

No one was injured during the ordeal.

Cecil is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He will appear in recorder's court Saturday at 2:00 pm.
