Auburn targets FSU's Stoops for DC opening

AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) - Several published reports say Florida State's Mark Stoops is on the short list to become Auburn's new defensive coordinator.

Stoops, the current defensive coordinator at Florida State, is the younger brother of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and former Arizona head coach Mike Stoops.

Stoops helped guide FSU's defense from the 110th best in the nation to a top ten ranking in most statistical categories in just two years.

Before his two years in Tallahassee, Stoops spent six years as defensive coordinator under his brother Mike at Arizona.

The Tigers are looking to replace Ted Roof, who stepped down last week.
