COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - Columbus officials have voted to hold off on deciding whether to allow Sunday alcohol sales.
In a 7-to-1 vote, Columbus City Council decided Tuesday they needed more information about a referendum that would be added to the July ballot.
The Georgia state legislature voted to allow individual counties to vote if beer and wine should be sold on Sunday.
Several communities, like Atlanta and Albany, have already let the public vote.
Several Columbus councilors asked for revenue and safety precautions of counties that already allow sales on Sunday before they voted.
It will come back to the table in January.
