MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate has taken a big drop for the second month.

The rate had been declining from 9.8% in September to 9.3% in October and now 8.7% for November. State Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees says this is the first time Alabama has seen a drop of 6-tenths of a percentage point in one month.

Gov. Robert Bentley says the two consecutive months of big drops show positive momentum for the state's economy.

November's unemployment figure represents 187,720 people looking for work.

Counties with the lowest unemployment rates for November are Shelby at 5.4%, Coffee at 6.2% and Pike at 6.6%. Counties with the highest rates are Wilcox at 17.8%, Perry at 15.6% and Bullock at 15.5%.
