MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama business is raising money to help a Montgomery police dog that was shot three times during the arrest of a suspected robber.

The Tractor Supply Company was holding a fundraiser Saturday to raise cash to buy a kennel and other items for the recovering canine, named Bodi.

WSFA-TV reports that Bodi was shot three times, including once to the face, Wednesday as the dog held onto a burglary suspect who was exchanging gunfire with police. Police say it was the suspect who shot the dog.

Bodi lost an eye in the shootout and is expected to regain only limited sight in his other eye. Montgomery police plan to retire the dog and allow Bodi to return home with his handler.
