New developments coming to Auburn

AUBURN, AL (WXTX) – FOX 54 Elizabeth White sat down with Auburn's Economic Director Phillip Dunlap to talk about some of the bigger construction projects like the new interchange on Interstate-85 at Exit 50 and a new Publix in Auburn.

Publix workers are expected to begin stocking shelves at the first of 2012. Dunlap expects a grand opening during the first of the year.

Auburn University Credit Union is expected to locate at the new shopping center along with smaller boutiques and a restaurant or two.

In June or July, motorists will able to access Auburn through the new Exit 50 interchange off of Interstate-85.

Dunlap describes the $18 million Auburn Technology Interchange as a major bonus for attracting businesses looking for easy access to the major highway.

"I think it is going to be a major incentive for us because it connects all of our parks, North, West and East together in a nice highway package. "

Dunlap says the new interchange will be a dream come true for Auburn Tiger football fans trying to get into and then out of Jordan Hare Stadium after the game. He says it will greatly reduce game day congestion.
