Man arrested in Columbus shoplifting spree

A Columbus man is behind bars after taking jewelry, alcohol and merchandise from several stores.

Jermaine Thomas, 28, was arrested at the Kmart on Macon Road Saturday afternoon.

Police reports say while Thomas was being read his Miranda rights, he confessed to shoplifting at the CVS Pharmacy on Macon Road, the Wal-Mart on Buena Vista Road, and Fred's Super Dollar on Auburn Avenue.

The estimated worth of the stolen goods was about $200.

Thomas is facing felony charges and is currently being held in the Muscogee County Jail.
