Upatoi man says he will run for US President

Paul Martin was born and raised in the Valley area. After serving 15 years in the Navy, he retired to Upatoi and now lives a quiet life with his wife, Barbara.

Three weeks ago, he decided to do something that could change his life, and yours, forever.

Martin has filled out the paperwork and has the money to apply to be on the ballot as the next president of the United States.

"Nobody has satisfied me in either republican or democrat," explained Martin.

Martin told News Leader Nine he is running as an independent. "I am going to get the jobs back rolling. I am going to get the companies to come back to the United States and if they do not, I will tax them heavily."

Martin knows there will be skeptics, but he believes he has what it takes.

"Believe in me.  If I don't do a good job, I will walk out in two years. I will resign. I promise the people they will see a change in two years. Not just a change in a few of these things, a lot is going to change. It has got to be changed," said Martin.

When Martin was asked if he thought he was wasting time and money, he said, "I am putting up the first $5,000 out of this out of my bank account."

And, when asked if he truly believed he could be the next President of the United States, he said "Yes, I can do this. I know I can do this. If I can run a flight deck of a carrier with a billion dollar aircraft, I can do this."

Martin has plans to put together a group of people who will help him run his campaign.
