Shaw Tourney finals now set

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The finals are now set for the Shaw Christmas Tournament, and it includes one team that had to play four games to reach the championship game.

The 9th-seeded Carver Tigers beat No. 5 Spencer 73-65 on Thursday night for their third win in the tournament, earning a berth in the boys finals. The Tigers took the long way around, beating 8th-seeded Northside in a first-round game, and top-seed Shaw in the quarterfinals.

No. 2 Jordan grabbed the other boys finals berth with a 71-65 over No. 3 Central.

On the girls side, 6th-seeded Kendrick beat No. 7 Northside 46-41, and No. 1 Central topped 4th-seeded Hardaway 58-47.

The girls final is set for 6:00 pm ET on Friday, with the boys title game at 8:00 pm. The games will be played at Columbus State's Lumpkin Center.
