New Years Eve, Chattahoochee Valley style

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - 2011 seems to have come and gone so quickly and now it is time to get ready for some of the biggest New Years Eve bashes ever, like the Peach Drop in downtown Atlanta and the MoonPie Drop in Mobile, AL.

But nothing compares to the New Year's Eve bash in New York City.

In Columbus, things are a little bit different - not quite as lavish as the celebrations in New York but parties in their own right. The folks at Mix Ultra Lounge on Broadway are preparing for a southern style New Year's party.

"We are going to be partying, it's New Years Eve, and we are expecting a full house," Matt Cornett said.

With a capacity of about 150 people that shouldn't be such a hard task. Mix Ultra Lounge will have drinks all night and that's not all.

"Party favors definitely, we will have Champagne for the 12 O'clock count down," Matt Cornett said.

Damon Free and his buddies already have a full agenda for New Year's Eve.

"Tap, Mix, Flip Flops, Bootleggers, we are throwing down," Free said.

It may still not quite be as festive as the folk up the road in Atlanta or in New York City but Damon says he's still expecting to have a good time.

"I've been to that party 750 thousand people; all leaving at the same time was the worst party I've ever been to man," Free said.

Take it from Damon, Columbus may not be a New York City but it has its own special perks. Sarah, a bartender at The Vault on Broadway told us tonight that Columbus on New Year's Eve is like Atlanta on a regular day.

If you aren't the party goers then you might want to head on over to the Ice Rink, they will have a New Years Eve bashed catered toward younger audiences.
