Police seeking rape, attempted murder suspect

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – East Alabama police are looking for a suspect in an attempted murder case after they say he attacked and raped an Opelika woman.

At 3:46 p.m. Wednesday, Opelika Police responded to a reported assault on Branch Street.

According to officials at the scene, a 46-year-old Opelika woman was bleeding heavily from cuts and stab wounds to her neck, shoulders and hands.

The victim stated she had been forcibly raped at knife point after being taken to an abandoned house in the neighborhood.  She described her attacker as a dark-skinned black male.

The victim was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center. Her condition is unknown at this time.
