Former sheriff's deputies sentenced for beating handcuffed man

MONTGOMERY, AL (WTVM) - Two former Russell CountySheriff's deputies were in court Friday to be sentenced after being foundguilty of beating a man who was handcuffed.

Kirby Dollar has beensentenced to 46 months in federal prison and was ordered to pay restitution tothe victim, Patrick Harrington.

Dollar accepted a pleadeal and pled guilty in August to avoid going to trial.

Tim Watford was sentencedto 34 months in prison and must pay $5,000 in restitution. 

Both men were convicted lastyear of deprivation of rights under color of law. 

Supporters urged the judge to showleniency because of their military and law enforcement service.  But prosecutors said the men brought shame onthe badge and severely injured Harrington. 

Authorities say Harrington was found by bail bondsmen.Harrington said Dollar and Watford arrived at the scene andbeat him.
