PHENIX CITY, AL (WXTX) – Russell County Commissioners voted to reduce the speed limit from 45 mph to 25 mph at Copeland Drive in Phenix City.
They say the road is short and is mostly used by trucks that are coming in and out of businesses.
However other drivers are making the area unsafe by speeding.
Russell County Commission Chair Peggy Martin say, "We hope that people will abide by the law and heed that traffic sign because we don't want them to get a ticket, neither do we want a traffic fatality or an accident."
The original plan was to bring the speed limit down to 30, but commissioners felt that was still too fast.
