Upshaw, Menzie invited to NFL Combine

(WTVM) - De'Quan Menzie and Courtney Upshaw have been invited to participate in the NFL Combine scheduled for February 22-28 in Indianapolis.

Menzie, a Carver alum, had 41 total tackles as a Tide cornerback with one interception and one fumble recovery. He is ranked as the 31st best cornerback in this year's draft class by CBSSports.com, predicted to go in the 7th round.

Eufaula native, Upshaw, had 51 total tackles this season, leading the team with 8.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss. Upshaw was a Butkus Award finalist and named the Defensive MVP of the BCS National Championship game.  Upshaw is a projected first round pick, as CBSSports.com ranks him as the second best outside linebacker in the class and the 21st best prospect overall.

231 players are on the NFL's initial invitee list. This list only includes senior prospects. Underclassmen have until Sunday, January 22nd, to petition the NFL for early entry into the draft. Once the league has compiled this list of underclassmen a new expanded list will be sent out including them and a handful of senior prospects who surprised scouts during senior all-star games.
