MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn University trustee selection committee will interview 35 people for nine trustee positions.
The committee headed by Gov. Robert Bentley met Wednesday in Montgomery to pick the 35 from about 170 people who applied. Bentley said the 35 were recommended by one or more members of the selection committee.
One current trustee, Jimmy Rane of Abbeville, appears certain to be re-nominated. He's the only person being interviewed for the District 3 position. Rane is CEO of Great Southern Wood and is known for his "Yella Fella" ads.
The trustee selection committee will conduct the interviews Jan. 25 and 30. Then it will meet Feb. 6 to decide who to nominate. The nominations are subject to approval by the state Senate.
