Phenix City man is person of interest in sexual battery against LSU fan

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM/WBRC) – A Phenix City man is a person of interest in a bizarre sexual battery case after shocking video emerged online of a passed out LSU fan.  In the video, is an Alabama fan placing his genitals on an unconscious LSU fan.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office says the person of interest is headed to New Orleans, LA.

Authorities say he left Phenix City with his attorney around 3 p.m. EST Thursday, but no warrants have been issued for his arrest at this time.

Earlier this week, the New Orleans Police Department issued an alert saying it is actively seeking an Alabama fan seen in online video exposing himself and simulating a sex act atop a passed-out LSU fan. The incident happened at the Krystal Burger located at 116 Bourbon Street in New Orleans last Monday night.

Investigators add the Alabama fan is fully cooperating with police.

The Alabama fan worked at Hibbett Sports in Phenix City, Alabama, but he was terminated Wednesday.

"After we looked into it and investigated the matter, we made the decision to terminate this person's employment with the company," said Scott Myers with Hibbett Sports.

As regards the incident involving the Alabama fan, Myers simply said, "It doesn't represent anything about our company."

Myers would not say what the man's position was with the company or how long he had been employed.  He says they were first made aware of the video Wednesday and fired him.

A man named Sam called into the Paul Finebaum radio show on Thursday claiming that he is the victim in the video.

He apologized for drinking so much and confirmed that he has spoken with police.

"I was embarrassed.  I never knew.  I didn't even know anybody was videoing me," said Sam.

Finebaum asked, "Did you feel violated?  Sexually violated?"

"It pissed me off.  It pissed me off," said the man claiming to be the victim.
