The inauguration for the new president Edward O. DuBose, took place on Saturday, as part of the celebration, the new officers and supporters gathered at Green Acres Cemetery on Shutulga Road to honor Dr. Thomas Brewer one of the founding members of the Columbus chapter.

"Dr. Brewer was physician practicing in Columbus, Georgia. He could have easily went on with his career, but he understood that if all of our people are not free and he sacrificed his career. He sacrificed his family and he sacrificed his life. He was assassinated here February eighteenth nineteen fifty-six and our message is, never forget, never forget the shoulders for which you stand on," said DuBose.
