A teen was arrested Monday night in Opelika after authorities say he robbed a business with a handgun.  The robbery happened just after 9:00pm at Jack's located on Pepperell Parkway.

Several workers were inside when they say a suspect wearing a ball cap, a rag over his face, and dark clothing entered the store with a handgun.

Witnesses say the suspect demanded the safe opened. As one of the employees attempted to find the code to the safe, the suspect struck the employee in the back of the head with his handgun. Witnesses add the suspect then fired a shot and told the employee that he would kill him if he did not open the safe.

Once the employee opened the safe, the suspect grabbed the money and fled.

Officers spotted in the area a dark-colored SUV and attempted to stop it. The SUV finally stopped in Royal Park Estates off of North Uniroyal Road.

The passenger jumped out of the vehicle and ran off; the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and held for questioning.

Authorities found inside the SUV a handgun believed to have been used in the robbery and money.

Jeremy Blake James, 17 of Opelika, was arrested Monday night and charged with robbery. Jamarcus Latrell Wilson, 18 of Opelika, was later arrested Tuesday morning on a warrant and charged with robbery.

Both suspects are being held at the Lee County Detention Center.
