Two suspects identified in Ensley killings

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

New information has been released in the Ensley murder that left five people dead.

Birmingham police have arrested and charged a second suspect, Artavius Underwood, 16 of Birmingham with five counts of capital murder. He is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

Police charged 17-year-old Rashad Stoves of Birmingham with five counts of Capital Murder. He is being held without bond.

The names of the five men killed in a house in Ensley Highlands were released on Tuesday. They are 42-year-old Ronnie Render and his nephew Charles Render, Demetrius Sanford and Jeffery Davis, Jr. The 5th victim was 23-year-old Jonathan Sanchez.

Sanchez was a new father who had just been named "employee of the month" at the Summit Club in downtown Birmingham. His girlfriend Ravenn Carlton spoke to FOX6, describing him as the love of her life.

"I'm very hurt to know a person who wanted so much out of life, and all the plans that we had… I can't do nothing to get him back, nothing at all," said Carlton through her sobs.

The investigation is ongoing. The suspect, Rashad Stoves is also charged with attempted murder and robbery on unrelated cases.
