COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) –  Columbus Police have begun an investigation after an 18-month old girl died on Tuesday at Children's Hospital in Atlanta.

The little girl, Alexis Long, came in with bruises and what appeared as a head or neck injury.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death and is expected back tomorrow.

The baby was recently adopted and at the moment the parents are not being called suspects, however if it is found the child was beaten, charges could be filed.
