MIDLAND, GA (WTVM) -

The Hazardous Materials Response Team (HAZMAT) was called out to the post office on County Line Road in Midland Monday afternoon for a suspicious package.

The investigation revealed the box actually contained clams that were being shipped. The clams apparently had thawed over the weekend and started oozing a strange liquid.

Emergency crews blocked off portions of the road, closed off the post office and sent crews inside to secure the building, but it ended up just being a smelly box of seafood.

The Homeland Security Director says there was no threat to the public.
