EDITORIAL:  Last week the Muscogee Excellence in Education Foundation introduced this year's group of 59 teachers of the year from the Muscogee County School District.

Each of these honorees was named as the Teacher of the Year from their respective schools and they now move on to the district wide competition for the overall teacher of the year honor.

These 59 teachers represent the best of the best and deserve our gratitude for dedicating their lives to teaching our children in Muscogee County. We congratulate and say thank you to each honoree and wish them well in the overall competition.

I have served on the selection committee in the past and I know first-hand how difficult it will be to select just one of these great leaders.

We also want to thank the Muscogee Excellence in Education Foundation for recognizing our teachers. This is a fairly unique process and one that makes our school district better.

Stay tuned as the Teacher of the Year will be named at a Gala on May Third.
