EDITORIAL:  Some cold hard facts for you - half the people who die in Georgia and Alabama die of heart disease and cancer - that's 50-percent.

In many cases those deaths can be prevented.

That's why local community leaders put on the 2012 Health Expo at the Columbus Trade Center last weekend.

Nearly 1,000 people got free health checks and any needed referrals from many of the best health care providers in the business.

WTVM is proud to be associated with all the many volunteers the Columbus Health Department, the Muscogee County medical Society and Alliance, and dozens of medical providers who gave their time and assistance to those who came out.

I know we all look forward to next year's health expo to do the same kind of good all these caring people provided this year.
