OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) -
A homicide investigation is underway after test results from bones found in Opelika revealed that the individualdied by a homicidal means - not a natural death.
A child's skull and other remains were found in a trailer park on Hurst Street on January 28.
Officials conducted search of the heavily wooded area adjacent to the trailer park and located more human remains within 50-75 feet of where the skull was found.
Based on the examination of the skeletal remains, it is believed that the remains belong to a child less than 10 years of age.
More tests on the bones are still being conducted to determine race and gender.
News Leader 9 will continue to follow this story and bring latest information as soon as it becomes available.
